Art dump

Staying true to my new years resolution, I've been pushing myself to continue creating art. Also, I've been seeing a psychologist for talk therapy for free through my school. She has been encouraging me to channel my creativity in moments where I need a break from stress or when I feel overwhelmed.  Using art as an outlet has been my thing since I was little but being intentional about it as something to ground me is new. So far it's definitely been helpful, and I'm happy with where I'm at skills wise. Hoping to get more commissions this year and potentially earn income off my art. I have a few friends who are also artists and they've also been putting in the work this year to try and get more 'business' from their art. It's exciting seeing others with similar goals around you.

Coercion: Sexual Assault Awareness

Today at my college they held a 'Take Back the Night' event that was about highlighting the voices and experiences of sexual assault victims, promoting the importance of consent and the different resources available to anyone going through interpersonal violence, sexual harassment etc. As a small opener they had students write messages to anyone struggling with their experiences, to uplift, spread awareness or positivity. I chose to make my message about coercion, albeit I did misspell the word lml.  "A 'YES' AFTER 10 'NO's IS A NO!  #stopcoercion' I am unfortunately one of billions of victims of various forms sexual harassment and sexual assault but one of the seemingly 'lesser' overlooked forms is coercion. It can look like your partner begging you throughout your evening to have sex, possibly throwing in some guilt tripping, maybe blackmail, even potentially leaving without a ride in somewhere unfamiliar or threats of bodily harm etc. Your in...

Sketchbook dump (and Author's Note)

Here's a few sketch pieces I've done so far this year. Trying to keep the momentum of drawing a few sketches every month; hoping to do at least three big pieces of work and two or more commissions in 2024.  Currently working on a paper addressing myths/stereotypes regarding women and their capabilities regarding operating and maintaining motor vehicles. I'll most likely condense the paper and post it under my creative writing tag and whatnot. Definitely look out for that and feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts. Thanks for visiting my blog :) enjoy the rest of your week ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧

Plans for 2024

Happy New Year everyone 🥳🥳🥳 Glad to have made it another trip around the sun. For this year I have quite an ambitious outlook towards what I'd like to accomplish. Hopefully they're ambitious enough that if I fall short I'll still have done quite a bit overall. I would like to obtain my NHA certificate for Clinical Medical Assistant this year. It's been a while since trade school graduation and my last MA job and I'd like to get back into a clinical position. My current job is clerical but still in healthcare; it's been great with my school schedule but not as fulfilling as being part of a medical team.  Updating my blog more often as well. I've been wanting to do more creative writing, trying my hand at more journalistic pieces and writing on topics I'm passionate about or would like to bring awareness to. Growing my savings is also a huge goal for me. After using my little nest egg to help my family in a hard time, it's been a little sad not havi...

🎃 End of a Successful Spooky Season 🎃

One of the pros to having a healthy and active social life is being more motivated to take part in festivities and making plans. Armed with a solid group of friends, some old and new, taking part in things has been a lot less difficult to do. I was actually able to attend quite a few Halloween themed activities this year, both on and off campus. I ended up having three looks this season, and I'm super happy with how they all turned out.  First up is Pokemon Trainer. As an avid Pokemon Go player, especially during the school year, I felt it was fitting to get out this old backpack and throw a look together. I won that backpack back in high school at a costume competition my local library was having - I was dressed as Fiona (Finn's official gender bend) from 'Adventure Time'. I had both a fem and masc fit planned out, I like having options that express my identity - not knowing how I'd feel the morning of the party. Decided on a masc look due to how I was feeling that...

Creative Writing Piece: Does someone’s name influence who they become?

In its most simple definition, a name is an identifier. Names are often one of the first pieces of information you can learn about another, a label to match a face- another conscious being. Historically, names carried weight depending on things like your family’s prestige or class, any trades passed on from father to son, one great ancestor who did something revolutionary or tied to a certain ethnic group/region of people. In recent history and modern society, a name can still be tied to prestige as well as socioeconomic status, ethnicity and gender identity (or lack thereof). Both historically and in present times, a name has been closely tied with different aspects of one’s life journey that influence the paths they take; and while it may not be the only factor molding a person into who they are- a name plays a role in who they become.  Traditionally, names (specifically last names) held the purpose of identifying a group of people, whether a clan, a royal lineage, tradesman etc....

Heyyy.... How y'all doing?

Lol so it's about to be summer and I haven't posted a damn thing. Why you may ask? Well life has been kicking my ass. This past spring was a rough semester (ya girl passed everything tho (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ ), family issues, health issues, quit my job, got a new job, relationship struggles etc etc etc Things are somewhat looking up however and I've been more active with my art. I've been even doing commissions... Who'd a thunk? Lml but just taking it one day at a time and with that trying to revive my little blog here.  So Happy New Year, Valentines, EID, Easter, and HAPPY PRIDE to all my fellow queers 🌈🌈🌈🌈 P.S. new gender identity just dropped so I made a meme (Debby Ryan hair tuck) same pronouns as before tho: she/they. But yeah demi girl... Not me having a micro label ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)  Toodles for now loves

End of Year Statement

I was able to end the semester on and high note and make a good schedule for this upcoming spring. Thankfully, I got a big gpa boost and have gained some confidence in myself academically. Spring will be more challenging than this past fall but I'll be doing my best to keep on track.  I hope all is well and that everyone is coping and/or enjoying this holiday season. 2022 is coming to a close but I'm looking forward to bigger and better things in the New Year. I wish for everyone nothing but good company, good health and good thoughts.  Thank you for giving my blog a chance and sticking around. Look forward to more frequent posting, especially of new digital art pieces.

Home Stretch

With roughly three and a half weeks left in this semester, I'm both excited and terrified for final grades to come out. I definitely missed my fair share of lectures because of my health issues so my test scores haven't been fantastic. However, most of my classes this year have written papers and presentations making up a huge chunk of my final scores. My disability accommodations have come in clutch for when I needed flexible deadlines for school, I'm super grateful that my school offers that and has a supportive and efficient disability services department.  Wishing all the best to anyone else on their home stretch, school wise and in general. 2022 is coming to a close and hopefully we all accomplish what we can and plan for success in the new year.

Pre Semester Jitters

So I’m going back to school after taking a year off and I’m both anxious and excited. After my sophomore year ended poorly because of lockdown related mental health issues among other reasons I decided to do something else. Did some research and went to a healthcare career trade school and completed a 9 month long Clinical Medical Assistant program. Leave it to me to go to school on my gap year from school lol. Of course while working partime 😅 because I NEEDED  to get out the house. The isolation after being sent home sucked ass. Now that restrictions have been lifted, and in person classes have resumed, I figured it was time to go back and finish my bachelors. I’m a Nutrition Science major and I’m taking mostly major related upper level classes and one Sociology course; I’m minoring in Sociology at the moment- unsure if I want to make it a second major instead. Online school tanked my confidence as a student and this semester is going to be me proving to myself (and others) that...
